Rush Limbaugh – A Rent Boy Of The Far Right?

It seems Rush Limbaugh doesn’t believe in contraception. As a stooge of the far right political wing of the Republican Party that’s hardly surprising.

Perhaps, though, one of his four wives might disagree. Four wives and no children?[1] Surely, they weren’t all infertile? Or, maybe the problem didn’t lie with his wives. Well, now, let me see – who does that leave?

Is it possible that Rush Limbaugh doesn’t believe in contraception simply because he doesn’t need any?

When Limbaugh took up the cause of the Catholic Church – somewhat surprisingly, as he’s a Methodist – he vented his nastiness on Sandra Fluke, a law student from Georgetown University. Ms Fluke had previously served as president of the university’s ‘Students for Reproductive Justice’ group.

She had asked to testify at a Congressional hearing on the new rule that religious institutions, such as some hospitals and universities (including Georgetown), provide insurance plans to cover the cost of medicinal contraceptives. House Republicans had blocked her from testifying.

From the BBC:

Ms Fluke was invited to testify in front of a House committee convened by Democrats after she was blocked from the first panel…her testimony included the case of a fellow student who needed birth control to control ovarian cysts.

Georgetown, a Catholic university with a prestigious law school, does not cover birth control to prevent pregnancy in its student health plan, and the student, who is gay, could not convince the insurance company she was ill.

Ms Fluke also asserted that birth control prescriptions could cost as much as $3,000 (£1893) without insurance.”[2]

During his talk radio program, Limbaugh said of Ms Fluke:

“What does it say about the college coed … who goes before a congressional committee and essentially says that she must be paid to have sex? It makes her a slut, right? It makes her a prostitute. She wants to be paid to have sex.”…

…”If we are going to pay for your contraceptives, and thus pay for you to have sex, we want something for it. We want you to post the videos online so we can all watch.””[3]

Such despicable attempts at character assassination are a trademark of the Limbaugh message to America. Sandra Fluke is not the first to suffer at the tongue of this disgusting apology for a human being.

Of course, it has to be remembered that Limbaugh is well paid for his services to the more extreme members of the Republican Party. You don’t own a $24 million, 36,500-square-foot oceanfront mansion in Palm Beach, Florida, on the salary of an average radio-jock.

He’s just admitted (above) to lusting after pornography and dirty videos. Doesn’t the fact that he’s so well paid for his services make him eligible for the title: “Rent Boy Of The Far Right?”

Oh, Lord, It’s Hard To Be Humble…

He’s either a stooge funded by the powers-that-be to satiate the evangelicals and Tea Party movement, or, he’s presently the most dangerous man in America.

John F Kennedy’s speech on the separation of church and state made him ‘nearly throw up’. Santorum is an evangelical’s dream come true. Probably his first act on becoming president would be to place a full size crucifix over the portal to the White House.

Thankfully, it’s unlikely he’ll ever see the inside of the Presidential abode, except as a visitor. Knowing full well there are enough, sane, independent voters out there to ensure it won’t happen, the powers that control the Republican Party are surely feeding the far right extremists with him until such time as Mitt Romney secures sufficient support to ensure his nomination.

It’s interesting to note they’ve already nobbled the maverick candidate, Newt Gingrich. He’s been chased down, roped, and hog-tied.

Rick Santorum doesn’t realize he’s dangerous. He’s simple enough to truly believe the words that come forth from his mouth. But, those who believe they have God on their side are always dangerous. After all, God never confirms or denies such things, leaving the divinely possessed wholly convinced of their ‘specialness’ – until something happens to dampen their faith, like losing a war, or maybe, an election.

It’s a fact of history. Every nation that’s ever gone to war has firmly believed God is on their side. History also tells us that God is invariably on the side of those with the biggest tanks, best trained army, and most technologically advanced weaponry.

If God’s a betting man, my guess is He’s pretty savvy.

Which is exactly why poor old Rick Santorum is deluding himself. I mean, just look at him…

… if you were God, would you put your money on this man?

The Sole Purpose Of A Gun Is To Kill

The previous post cited the example of Moises Zambrana, who negligently left a bullet in his gun while showing it off to two other men in a Florida church. The gun went off, killing the pastor’s daughter.

Today, in Washington state, a nine year old boy was ‘shaking and weeping’ in a Seattle courtroom as he stood accused of accidentally shooting an eight year old girl. He picked up a hand gun from his mother’s house, and took it into school in his schoolbag. The gun went off as he dropped the bag down on his desk, wounding his classmate in the stomach.[1]

The two cases have similarities: both weapons were discharged accidentally, neither Zambrana nor the boy intended to kill or injure anyone. There is, however, one huge difference: Moises Zambrana is a supposedly mature, middle-aged man. The boy in Seattle is only nine years old.

No action is being taken against Zambrana, despite his gross negligence. The boy is being held in a juvenile detention center and stands to be charged with ‘suspicion of unlawful possession of a gun, bringing a dangerous weapon to school, and third-degree assault’.

Washington state has no law requiring gun owners to keep their weapons out of the reach of children(!)

There is no justice in America. The law allows adults to treat lethal firearms as playthings, then penalizes small children for emulating adults.

This is not a mature nation, it’s a collection of fifty banana republics each with its own – slightly differing, but equally insane – set of laws regarding the ownership of firearms.

And not one of those fifty has the guts to stand up and say, “Enough is enough!”
